CARD GRADING INFORMATION
We use the following guidelines while grading cards. Our standards are pretty high so you should get what you expect.
MINT
This card is in just about perfect condition. There will be no visual damage to the card due to handling. You may, however, be able to see a small amount of white around the edges caused by the cutting of the card in the factory.
If a card is printed, cut, and handled perfectly, it is considered to be Gem Mint (a category not shown on this site). Therefore it is possible to find a Gem Mint card among the Mint cards listed.
You won't find many cards listed under this category. Usually we reserve it for cards sleeved right out of the package and not even all of those make it.
NEAR MINT
This card is in really great condition. Most of the cards we sell will fit into this category (we don't usually bother with cards that are of less quality unless they are played often and in demand). A card in this category has likely been in either a sleeve or a box its whole life. However, even then small things can happen. On a card in this grade you can find the following:
-Small ticks around the edges due to movement in storage.
-Slight scuffing also due to movement in storage.
-Foil cards with a small amount of fading on their shiny surface.
In general, if a card falls into this category, you will be pleased with the result. We dispose of thousands of cards due to the fact that they don't meet our expectations of NM. Once we receive and grade a card it is instantly placed in a protective sleeve so that it doesn't incur any damage while in our possession.
VERY FINE
This card has probably seen limited play but it is still in really great condition. You will find tick marks along the edges or scuffing on a card in this category. Slightly faded cards also fit into this category.
FINE
A card that has seen a fair amount of play will be graded in this category. There will often be visible scuffing and ticking on the edges and some wear on the face or back of the card. The black borders may be faded and the white borders may be a little dirty.
GOOD
These cards have been played a lot. They are often heavily ticked, scuffed, or faded. You will never see any bent or torn cards in this grade, however.
POOR
Everything else goes here. Tears and Creases, Inked cards, Holes, You name it! We RARELY sell a card at this grade. If you see one listed, it will be for FAR less than market value. Sometimes a card that falls into the poor category may still be playable... but its never a guarantee.
